The Winter Route was used in ancient times by pilgrims to avoid the rise of the harsh snowy peaks of O Cebreiro , it is the only road that runs through the four Galician provinces. However , today this route is not an experience subject exclusively to avoid the cold of the Galician mountains. Moreover, to travel in spring and summer can be a delight for walkers for the spectacular landscapes that cross.
The itinerary starts in Ponferrada to enter by the Bierzo towards the archaeological park of Las Médulas , declared a World Heritage Site . Penetrates the Ourense Galicia region of Valdeorras , through a path that moves almost parallel to the course of the Sil River. By moving to the province of Lugo , the road approaches the Roman tunnel Montefurado , a milestone that gives way to a beautiful layout for A Ribeira Sacra, a European Cultural Itinerary since 2004.
We will walk for six days in easy stages , the last 101 kilometers to Santiago and to obtain the Compostela . Our groups are small (max 8 people) to offer a direct and personal, and thus benefit from a comfortable , convenient and safe pilgrimage.
